46 Years of Pinterest and Interests at Brookside Homes
Having built custom homes since 1979, Brookside Homes has witnessed numerous changes and trends over the decades. These shifts have influenced the entire team, from the owners who have dedicated a combined 75 years to the company, to loyal employees in both sales and production who have been part of Brookside Homes for over 25 years. Each team member has adapted and learned new skills to thrive in the seemingly futuristic year of 2025 while constructing custom homes.
For 46 years, customers have been bringing their dream home desires to Brookside Homes by communicating their interests. Some may envision an open floor plan for entertaining, while others prefer multiple private rooms for individual family needs. Some may envision a large wrap around porch to soak in their surroundings, while others prefer a large and spacious garage. No matter how basic or complex, customers have been communicating their desires for years. A contemporary tool for expressing these ideas is through apps like Pinterest, which enables customers to create vision boards that help visualize their dream homes. This assists Brookside's sales consultants in capturing the essential details of each desired home, though it can present some challenges. In an era where the internet pulls information globally and AI generates images that may not correspond with reality, thorough research is often needed to turn a vision into a tangible project. However, Brookside takes pride in its strong relationships with local craftsmen and vendors who collaborate with the production team, ensuring that visions are brought to life without compromising a home’s structural integrity or local building codes.
One customer with a remarkable vision was Amanda Hunter. She approached Brookside with a wealth of ideas she wished to incorporate into her family’s home. Amanda envisioned a space that was not only open and modern but also warm and inviting. Her ideas included a custom staircase spanning three stories, a Great Room with a cathedral ceiling and 12-foot bifold doors that seamlessly connect to outdoor living, a butler’s pantry, and more. Amanda collaborated with sales consultant Jenn Crooks from the Selinsgrove office to bring her dream to fruition. The Hunters moved into their stunning home in 2024.
Brookside Homes makes dreams like the Hunters' a reality through years of trusted partnerships that bring all the elements of a home together. From the impressive three-story staircase meticulously hand-welded by Kevin Scheimreif of Steel & Grain to the expansive timber-framed front and back porches crafted by Timberhaven, every detail was coordinated to create the grand modern craftsman-style aesthetic. Brookside strives to work with the best craftsman and vendors throughout central Pennsylvania as it is the cornerstone for standing behind the 12-Year Structural Warranty on every home built, especially when bringing complex home designs like the Hunter’s to life.

Navigating the rapid technological advancements of the past 20 years can be taxing for a 46-year-old company. Yet, Brookside Homes and its employees embrace each new challenge. Two core principles have always guided their mission: customer satisfaction and structural integrity. Whether inspired by a Pinterest idea or a personal preference, Brookside Homes is committed to transforming every customer’s dream home into reality. When that vision materializes, it is crafted to endure for generations. Brookside Homes is grateful to have been trusted as a premier local builder for nearly fifty years. As they continue to adapt to meeting the desires and interests of their customers, they remain poised to build custom homes in the heart of central Pennsylvania for generations to come.
